Cancun celebrates Day of the Dead

Cancun, Quintana Roo, October 22, 2010 – The Caribbean paradise of Cancun attracts tourists year-round with its sunshine and breathtaking turquoise waters. But during November, the destination lights up with vibrant colors, music and mysticism to celebrate the traditional Day of the Dead, “Día de Muertos”, or as it is known withinthe Mayan tradition, “Hanal Pixán.”

The 36th Annual Festival de la Vida, a Day of the Dead Celebration, will be held on Saturday, October 23rd at the Dr. Anthony Soto Theater at Center for Employment Training at 701 Vine Street in Downtown San Jose.

Spirit, Art, Fun: Days of the Dead

For the second year in a row the Hayward Area Historical Society is bringing a Days of the Dead celebration to the Hayward area. Days of the Dead: Folk Art for the Third Millennium will be on exhibit in Cherryland’s Meek Mansion from October 9 through November 14. Curated by Fernando Hernandez, the Hayward-based artist and educator who brought us last year’s exhibit, Folk Art for the Third Millennium promises to be a cultural and spiritual experience that draws inspiration from both ancient and modern sources.
